Position Overview
The Grounds Person at Thorak Cemetery plays a crucial role in maintaining the grounds and preparing for cremations and burials. You will perform a variety of tasks aligned with operational procedures and safety standards, including the preparation of gravesites and the upkeep of cemetery gardens.
Your responsibilities will involve conducting cremations, ensuring facilities are well-maintained, and carrying out grounds maintenance activities such as mowing, fertilizing, and taking care of trees and shrubs.
Ideal Candidate Profile
We are looking for an enthusiastic and reliable individual who thrives in an outdoor environment. The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and skills:
- A current full Australian Driver's License.
- Experience in cultivating and maintaining gardens and surrounds.
- Ability to identify, remove, and eradicate weeds, pests, and plant diseases through the use of appropriate methods.
- Ideally a Light Rigid License.
- A Certificate in Chemical Handling (or the ability to obtain one) and experience in chemical handling.
- A Certificate of competency in tractor, slasher, front-end loader, backhoe, and ride-on mower.
Successful candidates will be comfortable working in varying tropical conditions and interacting courteously with the public, demonstrating teamwork and dedication to the role.
Salary & Benefits
The position offers a competitive salary range of $76,000 to $82,000 plus superannuation, alongside generous benefits such as six weeks of annual leave.
